Commitee Members
Wendy Grainge

Married to Paul who is self employed in sports ground maintenance. I help keep his books and work for the childrens society. We are an active family; Paul plays rugby and trains at the gym; I come from a rowing background, which I still compete at when time allows (so not often!!) we have two girls, Lucy and Zoe who both swim for Swim Trafford Team. I deal with all the Swim Trafford Team kit and equipment, So you will generally find me poolside carrying a large bag!

Colin Downie

I am married to Angela, the morning co-ordinator, and am father to four children, Emily our eldest is a member of Swim Trafford. I am a solicitor in private practice, so slip trip or fall, give me a call!  100% of your compensation, guaranteed etc. etc. I am the committee’s timing expert, and whilst others may be qualified time keepers, few, if any, can come close on the 5 second challenge.  Have a go with us at the next all day gala. They call me the enforcer, so watch out, I have the task of arranging the morning rota, have you sent your forms in!

Marie Hoye

I became involved in swimming a few years ago, through my daughter Sarah, firstly at Trafford Metro and now Swim Trafford. I did not want to send all my time sat up on the balcony watching, so like a lot of parents I volunteered to help. I have gained ASA Timekeeper and Judge Qualifications- Initially this was to assist at Pointscore at Trafford metro. I now officaite at several galas such as M&D's and Radford OPen Meet, it passes the time whilst Sarah swims!. I volunteered to become Cild Welfare Officer as the position was unfilled and it is extremely important that the children are happy and safe whilst swimming. Together with other members of the commitee, I am currently working to collect all relevant evidence and arranging training courses to gain Swim21 accreditation. It is important that we gain this accreditation for the development of Swim Trafford. I have had a varied working life and am currently using my Science and computer qualifications. Some of the swimmers know me from Science and ICT lessons at St. Monica's R.C. Primary School.

Nicola Parks

Married to Rob (the quieter half of the relationship). Mum to three, Cameron (not a member of Swim Trafford but a mean lacrosse player), Rachael and Matthew who are both members of Swim Trafford. I became involved with Swim Trafford initially because of Matthew and Rachael’s keen involvement but because I just can’t help myself!! I am Swim Trafford’s competition secretary and am frequently to be seen around poolside clutching piles of paper and gala forms!

Judith Lawson

My name is Judith Lawson.  I work full time as Business Manager in a large secondary school and spend the rest of my time either watching swimming or lazing about. I am married to Malcolm.  We live in Sale and have four children between us; three who live away from home and then Heather, the swimmer of the family.  Heather joined Swim Trafford in October 2005 from Trafford Metros and is currently in P1 Squad.  She loves her swimming and we love to support her in any way we can.  In 2006 I joined the committee of Swim Trafford and volunteered (did I really) to take on the role of Fundraising Officer.

Andy Guy

Married to Cath, we have two boys James and Luke. Jame is currently swimming with the Swim Trafford Team which he loves and Luke is having lessons at Traffor with swim link' Luke thinks getting up early is silly so I can't see him taking swimming serious unlike James who can't get enough of it. I myself enjoy training and keeping fit; just passed my timekeepers course and am about to start my judging, Cath keeps herself fit by running around after the boys, and myself.

Winifred Woodcock

Married to Paul and have just seven children.  Five boys and two girls.  All the children swam, one still swimming in the masters.  Treasurer and secretary of Flixton swimming club and now also secretary for Swim Trafford team.  Out five mornings a week at 4.15 am to help with early morning swims and work every evening poolside too! Thoroughly enjoy doing what I do. To see the children swim through the ranks and achieve what they do is my reward

Lee Pye

Partner to Paula and Dad to three girls and a boy. Live and work in Urmston as a Civil Engineering and Building Contractor, Like to think that I wear the trousers at home, although Paula chooses the colour! Thought there was only one 5.00 in the day until I discovered the joys of early morning swims, courtesy of our eldest daughter Lauren. Desperately trying to encourage our other children to take up more demanding sports such as Tiddlywinks!! Since 11 years old my first love in sport has been Lacrosse and I’m still rolling back the years (all 40 of them) to play in the premiership (despite bad back, shot knees and dodgy ankles!) As Chairman of Swim Trafford, I am delighted to head up a team of committed and driven individuals, who work tremendously hard at all times and make my job easy

Paula Teader

Hello, my name is Paula Teader (the Chairman’s better half).
We have four children, Lauren, Sian, Tom and Francesca. Each one brings great joy (most of the time) and have me constantly chasing my tail.  Lauren is the one that drags me out of bed at a ridiculous time in the morning to swim with Performance 1. She is passionate about her swimming and although sacrifices have to be made to accommodate her training, when I watch her and the other children swim for 2 hours at 5.30 in the morning I am humbled by their dedication and commitment. I am Swim Trafford’s away meet coordinator and also help organize social events for the swimmers.  Will instantly recognize me as the one with matchsticks holding eyes open, screaming child on hip and looking in need of a large glass of red wine!!
